Students will develop and apply music skills by arranging a popular waiata to become a kapa haka-style waiata-ā-ringa or waiata tira.

Students will deconstruct a favourite piece of music, identify and describe at least three significant concepts for that song, then re-create their favourite beat.

Students will engage with a music extract and either play it back by ear or transcribe it, in keeping with the musical style of the extract.
